Fisichella and Bruni win \"Sao Paolo 6 Hours\" in Ferrari 458 Italia GT2

Sao Paolo, September 16th - Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni win Sao Paolo 6 Hours for AF Corse in Ferrari 458 Italia GT2. The Italian crew drove a perfect race, with no mistakes. Having started from third on the grid, Fisichella and Bruni gradually moved up the order in this the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, in Brazil.

From the third hour on, their Ferrari in its national colours held the lead in their category. At the flag, the two Romans crossed the line one lap ahead of the second placed Aston Martin. Teamwork was perfect as was the strategy from the pit wall, which meant the No. 51 Ferrari 458 did one stop less than its rivals. They also produced the fastest lap in the category in 1.34.390 on the way to winning the first WEC round held in Brazil.

Fourth in the GTE Pro class was the other AF Corse Ferrari, No. 71 458 GTE2, in the hands of Andrea Bertolini and Olivier Beretta, who ran into a bit of bad luck which affected the final result for the Italo-Monegasque duo.

There was a fourth place in GTE Am, for the No. 61 Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 entered by AF Waltrip and driven by Francisco Longo, Alexandre Negrao and Enrique Bernoldi (following steward decision, they finished in third position). The three Brazilians seemed to have everything in place to aim for the win, but unfortunately an accident at the start compromised their chances, as did a puncture in the third hour which resulted in an accident that left the Brazilian-liveried car with further damage and caused it to leave even more time. There was some consolation from the fact they got the fastest race lap of 1.35.852, after taking pole in qualifying, which all goes to show the potential was there, even if events in the race counted against them.

AF Corse leads the Team GTE Pro classification on 143 points, 61 more than second placed Aston Martin Racing. AF Waltrip is third in GTE Am on 77 points.Ferrari leads the GTE Constructors classification on 237 points, with Porsche second on 132.

Next race is Saturday 29th September - 6 hours of Bahrain
