ELMS: AF Corse and the successes
Following two “silver medals” in both GT categories, AF Corse finished the European Le Mans Series 2014 (Elms) successfully.
The first result came in the LMGTE thanks to Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin. In their AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #55, the high potential squad gained – together with Michele Rugolo in four of five races – 81,5 points and a series of positive results.
The other second step on the podium is the outcome of the perfomances signed by Johnny Laursen, Mikkel Mac and Jan Magnussen. Laursen and Mac are vice-champions in the GTC category in the Formula Racing Ferrari 458 Italia #60 (managed by AF Corse) with 78,5 points; Magnussen did not race every round but gained in any case the fourth place in the GTC Drivers standing. The two “silver medals” mirror the position for the Team (AF Corse second in LMGTE and same place for Formula Racing in GTC).
The "plus" sign of the season can be seen by observing the results of the other teams that animated the European Le Mans Series 2014 on an AF Corse Ferrari or with one 458 managed by AF Corse. Alexander Talkanitsa, Alexander Talkanitsa Junior and Pierre Kaffer – in the AT Racing Ferrari 458 #56, managed by AF Corse for several years – ended the hard-fought competition in the fifth spot.
One place behind, Piergiuseppe Perazzini, Marco Cioci and Michael Lyons with the AF Corse Ferrari 458 #54. The trio took the last chequered flag of the season, at Estoril, in second position: without some unlucky incidents, in the opening of the season, the championship would have been fought until the end.
Howard Blank, Yannick Mallegol and Jean Marc Bachelier, in their AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #62, were great protagonists of the season from the very beginning to Imola race (GTC category) with brilliant performances. Mallegol, in the second part of the championship, continued to race with François Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard driving the AF Corse Ferrari 458 #70 (LMGTE category).
The young drivers Adrian De Leener and Cedric Sbirrazzuoli, in the AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #95, finished the Elms in 8th position in the GTC standing.
Peter Mann - the GTR champion in the Blancpain Endurance Series 2014 – gained points also in the Elms together with Raffaele Giammaria and Lorenzo Casè in the AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #65.
Mads Rasmussen, Dennis Lind, Ilya Melnikov, Filipe Barreiros and Francisco Guedes shared the AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #63 during the season.
Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and Andrea Rizzoli accomplished good performances in the AF Corse Ferrari #94.
