Castellacci and Leo are the new champions of the European FIA GT3

ZANDVOORT, October 16th – Francesco Castellacci and Federico Leo, on AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia, are the new champions of the European FIA GT3. The title came at the end of the double Zandvoort race: the ninth place in race 1 and the fourth in race 2 granted to the two young Italian drivers the victory of the very hard FIA Championship with 9 points ahead of Parisy, 2011 vice champion.

For Castellacci and Leo the title is the most important success achieved in their career.

Castellacci and Leo were great protagonists of the season from the very beginning. They were fast in all tracks and found an increasing feeling with the car of the Cavallino brand. The title also came thanks to the qualification of the AF Corse team and the winning strategies developed race by race.

“I cannot believe it, that the championship is finished and that I’m the champion – Francesco Castellacci says -.The race yersteday was a bit tough but we tried to manage the points over the weekend and not risk too much. We made it”.

“We did a great job – the words of Federico Leo after the title’s victory -. Everyone says that Formula cars are a lot harder to drive but to take the feeling with a GT is not a simple as you might think. I want to thank Francesco, AF Corse and Amato Ferrari, team principal, and Michelotto”.

The other two AF Corse drivers at Zandvoort - Daniel Brown and Glynn Geddie on Ferrari 458 Itaia – finished the round in 14th and 18th position (respectively in race 1 and in race 2).
